Brian Hoelscher, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Hoelscher joined our team in January 2011. Growing up in southern Illinois, he now happily resides in New Glarus, Wisconsin. He received an undergraduate degree in medical biology from Southern Illinois University -Edwardsville in 2001 and undertook his veterinary studies at Ross University, earning a DVM degree in 2005. Prior to joining Animal Hospital of Verona, he spent time practicing in both Sun Prairie and Oregon, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry, the International Academy of Pain Management, Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association (WVMA), the Honey Bee Veterinary Consortium and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Dr. Hoelscher has extensive training and experience in the field of advanced veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. He uses his training and experiences not only to educate pet owners on the importance of dentistry in their pets, but also to provide continuing education to veterinarians and veterinary staff across the country. Dr. Hoelscher prides himself in offering the highest level of oral care for his patients by offering the most up-to-date skills, techniques and equipment. Some of these procedures include root canal therapy, orthodontics, guided tissue regeneration, oral cancer screening and treatment and numerous periodontal and oral surgeries. He has also worked with the Peter Emily International Veterinary Dental Foundation (PEIVDF), which provides volunteer dental care to animal sanctuaries and zoos across the world. He has even performed root canal therapy on a 600lb Bengal tiger and oral surgery on a mountain lion.
Dr. Hoelscher believes in providing the best medical care possible to his clients and the cherished members of their family. He is interested in all aspects of dentistry and oral surgery, canine behavior, anesthesia, senior care and pain management. Outside of work he enjoys hockey, cycling, hiking, golf and playing music with his friends. Dr. Hoelscher also has a passion for native prairie restoration and beekeeping. Dr, Hoelscher resides outside New Glarus with his wife, son, two German Shepherds named Wesley and Stanley, and over 100,000 honey bees!
